Today I’m swapping the power supply on my Nerd Octaxe 10TH/s Bitcoin solo miner, moving from the stock 212W power brick (which runs way too hot at 73–77°C) to a much safer and more efficient 600W external industrial power supply using an XT60 connection.
These small home miners work great, but the original power bricks run insanely hot — basically a fire hazard waiting to happen. So in this video I strip the wall cable, wire the line/neutral/ground directly into the PSU, add my own XT60 12-gauge cable, and test it on my Nerd Octaxe.
This setup lets me:
✅ Lower temps and reduce fire risk
✅ Run the miner more efficiently (from ~201W down to ~196W)
✅ Get stable 12V power
✅ Eventually run two Octaxe units on one PSU
Perfect for home Bitcoin solo mining where efficiency and safety matter.
We also jump into the Web GUI to check input voltage, adjust the potentiometer, and verify proper voltage output.
⚠️ DISCLAIMER: I’m not an electrician. Do wiring at your own risk. Use proper O-ring terminals and keep kids/pets away.
